Ingredients
- 240g milk or dark chocolate, roughly chopped
- 20g pecans, roughly chopped
- 20g dried cranberries
We first tried mendiants in Québec City – a place that's all about celebrating its French-Canadian heritage. These little chocolate discs are a French classic, usually topped with almonds, hazelnuts, figs, and raisins. But around Christmastime, they get a fun Canadian twist with flavours like cranberry and pecan! They're super easy to make with just three ingredients, but they look fancy. Perfect for impressing your friends and family.
Instructions
-
1. Melt the Chocolate
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and clear a shelf in the fridge. Place a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of warm water, ensuring the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Add the milk or dark chocolate to the bowl and gently stir until it is melted.
-
2. Create the Mendiants
Spoon a tablespoon of the melted chocolate onto the parchment paper and sprinkle with pecan and cranberries. Repeat until all the chocolate has been used (should make 16).
-
3. Allow to Cool
Place the baking tray into the fridge and cool for at least 20 minutes.
-
4. Serve or Store
Serve when the chocolate is set and firm to the touch or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
